The Institute

The Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG) is one of the largest Genome Sequencing Centers in Europe. CNAG researchers participate in major International Genomic Initiatives, as well as in several EU-funded projects.

The CNAG is a scientific-technical infrastructure created in 2010 by the Spanish General State Governance and the Generalitat de Catalunya, with a unique capacity and experience in Spain in the field of genomics. At the end of 2014, it was incorporated into the map of Singular Scientific and Technical Infrastructures (ICTS), as a node of the Integrated Infrastructure of Omics Technologies (OmicsTech).

We are a team of 120 highly qualified people, organized into laboratory personnel, computer scientists, bioinformaticians and administration personnel, of whom more than 80% have PhD or Master studies.

CNAG has become as one of the Spanish and European centers of reference in the sequencing and analysis of genomic data. Thanks to its powerful infrastructure, the Center contributes to significantly improve people's health and quality of life.

The Role

The area of People covers Personnel Administration & Labour Relations, Training & Development, Talent Attraction & Acquisition and Strategic HR Projects.

We are looking for a talented “People Officer” who is willing to start the challenge of working in one of the most important Science Research Centres in Spain/Europe.

Reporting to the Head of People and within the Aministration Unit, the newcomer will perform and execute activities related to personnel administration coordination, labour relations and reporting, and will participate in engagement projects within the HR Area.

The People Officer is responsible for:

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Personnel Administration Coordination:

- Act as an advisor/contact person regarding personnel issues, providing guidance and support to the team members and direct support to the Head of People.

- Contract management: Execute new hiring, temporary contracts coordination (contract’s renewals/modifications) and terminations.

- Manage the Onboarding process for new employees.

- Monitor of the entire life cycle process from the hiring until the departure (including the exit offboarding process).

- Management of employee benefits (flexible remuneration), full support to related questions of employees and coordination of administrative tasks.

- Coordination of administrative tasks such as benefits, sick leaves, absences, etc.

- Working together with the HR team to ensure compliance along the employee lifecycle.

• Labour Relations:

- Payroll Management: Control and manage the monthly payroll variables (salary variables, sick leaves, modifications, absenteeism, etc.) with external providers.

- Tax completion/management of the personal income tax process (“IRPF”).

- Provide employees with guidance on the People Labour policies and procedures, regarding benefits, holidays, guidelines and other details of its interest.

- Assist with the new policies implementation.

- Stay up-to-date and comply with changes in labour legislation.

- Reporting: Track and report on HR metrics, People KPI´s, etc.

- This role will also participate in HR projects related to his/her area of expertise

Whom would we like to hire?

Education and qualifications:

- University degree preferably in Labour Relations, Law or related field.
- Postgraduate Studies in Labour Relations will be a plus.

Experience and knowledge:

Required

- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in personnel administration and labour relations.
- Knowledge of Spanish Labour Law.
- Wide knowledge of Human Resources concepts and systems.
- Experience working with HRIS.
- Proficiency in written and verbal Spanish and English.
- Experience in HR & Payroll Software (SAP, A3, Workday, etc)
- Proficiency in MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills at all levels and the ability to effectively work with a variety of people and personalities.
- Proactive and self-starter attitude. Flexible and adaptable to different dynamics and processes.
- Detail/results-oriented.
- Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Nice to have

- Deep knowledge in labour law (and used to dealing with terminations, dismissals, grievances and labour complaints).
- Experience in a Research Insitutions, Centres, Universities or Biomedical Sector within a HR Area/Department.
- Used to manage immigration procedures (knowledge of entry conditions, VISAS).
- Fluent in Catalan
- Master in Labour Relations, HR Management.

The Offer

• Contract duration: Full-time position (40h/week). Permanent Contract.
• Estimated annual gross salary: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and consistent with our pay scales.
• Target start date: as soon as the appropriate candidate is identified.
